The new Ben Uri exhibition, Out of Chaos, at Somerset House is a deserved celebration of the centenary of the gallery. Initially set up to support Anglo Jewish artists it has in recent years broadened its remit. Whilst acknowledging and celebrating the particularity of Jewish experience it has also become a museum of immigration with an outreach programme that connects with the diverse communities of London.

My new essay on the “School of London” and recent British art is published in both the substantial accompanying book and the exhibition catalogue.
